Randy The Hermit, Homer & Sylvie Fortin in Threesome

By TheAntiHype | August 21, 2008

Hi, I don't remember seeing you here before. If you're new here, welcome. If you despise the hype on the net as much as me & like a laugh, keep up to date with my latest posts by subscribing to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting! The Anti Hype

Randy, The Hermit, has entered the fray!

This is what happens when you take a holiday.

I’ve been away for just over two weeks and I return to an unprecedented upset.

Randy (The Hermit) is upset with me for not giving him credit for introducing Homer to Sylvie Fortin.

Michel (Sylvie’s husband) is clearly upset with me for introducing Homer to Sylvie. He’s been around here again looking for evidence! You can still see him below as I write.

Sylvie, however, appears to be the only happy one out of them all. She’s not retracted here positive comment about Guru Fodder “a Must Read” from her blog – so that’s my assumption anyway.

And here I am caught up in the middle of this messy threesome – Homer in his pajamas, Randy Baustert – the introducer – & Sylvie Fortin whose only “crime” is to write an excellent report slamming some of the underhand marketing tactics used online.

So let me put the record straight.

Randy told me about Sylvie’s report – The Internet Marketing Sins. I took a look and liked what I read. So Randy, thanks for the introduction. Randy is already known to Michel & Sylvie Fortin – if you don’t know him you should. He runs an excellent site called Marketing Beginners – and you can read more about him at his blog. Although he lives in the Virgin Islands his time spent living in the UK sounds very interesting – see Being Randy In The UK

Loads of innuendo’s in that lot!

I thought the report would be great to quench Homer’s thirst for internet marketing products. In fact, secretly I believe Sylvie was actually writing about Homer in part of the report. (If so that suggests she knew him long before Randy told me about the Internet Marketing Sins report – the plot thickens!)

Now, in all of this mess – Homer has gone quiet again. For obvious reasons I can’t ask Marge what has happened for fear of adding another dimension to this farce.

My conclusion is I should leave them all to sort themselves out. Perhaps in future I should simply say -

Read Internet Marketing Sins by Sylvie Fortin – it’s outstanding.

But if I did, I wouldn’t be The Anti Hype would I? :)

    Hey AH,

So you haven't been watching Homer!!!!!

You, of all people, should know what happens when you let him run loose.

No more golf for you (even though I don't know if 110+ is still considered golf :) yes I can be mean at times)

It is good to see you back again.

    Randy The Hermit

Hey, what's going on here. Evidently it didn't have me logged into when I posted the last comment but it showed up any how. So now I am logged in.

He is clearly uncontrollable! I've long given up expecting him to conform!

    110+ on a 9 hole course is perfectly acceptable! :) :)

Glad it didn't take you long to comment, Randy

I just updated to the latest version of Disqus – possibly while you were trying to login – seems OK now

My dear husband is fully aware of the brief, albeit unsatisfying, affair I had with Homer. It was long before I met Michel and didn't mean anything to me. It took me very little time to realize that Homer and I had nothing in common.

I mean, all it took was one candlelight dinner (consultation) and he was all too eager to boost me up on a pedestal, and proclaim me his instant “guru”. I don't need that kind of power, especially if I want a mutually satisfying relationship of mutual respect and thoughtful discourse.

Homer is rather desperate, I must say. He's not very confident in his own ability to make logical decisions about anything. Every time we were trying to decide where we should go to dinner, all he ever said was “I'll go anywhere you want to go. You know best, dear”.

    Arrgghh! Irritating!

Michel and I are perfectly suited. He challenges me and I challenge him.

Poor Homer could learn a thing or two about being a real man, from my darling husband.

So, all this to say, Michel has nothing to be worried about. Homer never stood a chance with a woman like me. :)

If truth be told, I think Homer secretly wants a dominatrix. (rolling my eyes)

Hi Sylvie, a day for putting the record straight, clearly.

I'm really pleased you took the time to put your side of the story forward. I think you're 100% correct and have an inkling that Marge does in fact dominate Homer.

I do have to say, however, that Homer does sport a rather dashing pair of “guru” pajamas – even though he probably didn't select them himself.

Sorry to take you away from part 2 of Internet Marketing Sins, which I for one am really looking forward to.

Well I felt it was necessary to set the record straight after all. :)

Just curious, if you're the Anti-Hype, and Randy is the Hermit, what would my nickname be? Or maybe we should wait until all three parts are finished. I'm working on stuff that even scares me a little. LOL

Wondering if everyone will still be so supportive when I cover some tough issues from the other side of the coin. :)

Just wondering whether the “candlelit dinnerĀ£ was at one of those real classy Big M restaurants. I know Homer likes to do thing in style even if is he a bit of a wimp.

Mmm, I need to think of a suitable nickname for you (I don't think Homer's ex or fling sounds right, do you? ;) – If you're OK with it I will run with you in the ongoing Homer, Marge, bad guru saga from time to time. Perhaps you could be the one who finally shows Homer the correct way to do business online. He clearly looks up to you!

I'm sure you will upset a few people – home truths are always the most difficult to deal with. The AntiHype is not as brave as you (no online clout is the issue really) and softens the blow by using Homer as the whipping boy.

Looking forward to the report and thanks again for your great attitude

I'm perfectly fine with you using me in the running saga. I love the message you're trying to get out there, and I love that you are using tongue in cheek humor to make the point.

Plus, I am having fun with it, so why not? LOL

Thanks Sylvie – you're not only a guru basher but a good sport too!

By the way – just published my lens about Success Chef at:

Thank you for the review. Very nicely done!

But I must gently correct you on the Guru Basher term. In fact, one chapter in IM Sins is against guru bashers, which will make a lot of sense when you read it. :)

I believe you have mis-labeled yourself as a guru basher. You aren't at all. You, my dear friend, are like me. You focus on the sin, not the sinner.

A Guru Basher is someone who blasts a person. Guru Bashers are detrimental to themselves, as well as to those who listen to them.

    I know, I know…it's all semantics. :)

Just wanted to clarify the distinction between bashing a tactic or a product vs bashing a person upside the head. :)

*scurries off to finish Part 2*

Blast you Mrs Fortin – you're too quick for me. I posted that comment and went out to a meeting. It was bugging me that I'd used that term inadvertently (was struggling to find the correct one) and was returning to amend it!

You are, of course, absolutely right. You are not a guru basher but a “basher of the bad tactics used by some marketers”. Now I need to invent a term for us!

I appreciate you take the timing to point out the error of my ways. Spending too much time with my Homer hat on:)

How about Sylvie the Sin Survivor (it works on a number of levels) It could be Triple S for short.
