Bad Gurus Add Unsuspecting Newbies To Their Lists
By TheAntiHype | February 19, 2008
I hate cliches (unless I made them up)
I particularly despise them when I’m on the receiving end.
I’m about to insult you I’m afraid…
We’re all guru fodder but unless you’ve been around on the internet for a while you are also…
A NEWBIE
How demeaning is that? Everybody starts everything somewhere. We have “learner drivers”, we have people “studying” to be accountants, lawyers, architects etc. We have “trainees” but for some reason the Bad Gurus like to call people learning how to make money online “newbies”, or should I say…
Guru Fodder?
To make matters worse you are also no longer a human being with emotions, desires, needs, wants and a brain. Oh no, you are simply guru fodder to be put on a list. That leads to cliche number 2…
“The money is in the list”
Correction, what they are saying is:
“the money is in the hands of the guru fodder on my list and I must do everything I can to extract as much as possible from them”.
OK, so the Good Gurus do try to develop a relationship with their “list” but even so I’d prefer to be considered a human being, an existing customer or client and possibly also a future customer who needs to be nurtured not just “pitched” at every conceivable opportunity. I do not wish to be thought of as a meal ticket.
I’m based in the UK and it is sad to say the British Banks act just like Bad Gurus.
Try paying in a cheque for more than £5,000 (say $10,000) and they’re all over you like a rash. Like magicians they’re pulling products from their sleeves with which to extract as much cash as possible.
As soon as you want something from them, however, they close up shop – couldn’t possibly help you “sir”.
We have truly become Guru Fodder – just a number from which to extract cash – there are no personalities here – just an account number or a statistic. Have you thought that you are one of those 3,425 who signed up to Bad Guru No.1’s on 19th February 2008?
Let me know how this makes you feel. Are you a valued customer? Do the Bad Gurus really care about your success?
Please ponder this: have you ever bought an e-book, program , course that promises to be the definitive answer to building an online business only to find your inbox full of affiliate promotions from the same Bad Guru and then a few weeks later an invitation to their next product launch – strange how that is also the definitive guide.
I’m afraid with the financial success of a big successful launch comes the financial commitments of fast cars and big houses and a need to generate more. Without a sustainable business that can generate regular income anther big launch is the only way to generate the vast income required.
And you my friend happen to be the guru fodder on the list.
Be careful out there. (Another cliche – from Hill Street Blues!!)

Great article and only too true, unfortunately!
I actually received an email yesterday which later asked me to spend money but by referred to newbies as idiots! And yes I am a newbie, but no idiot.
My trash runneth over….

Thank you Denise. I've not seen that one. Someone really surpassing themselves!!! At least there is some comedy value in some of the emails – as long as we see through them. Mark
