Well, I think it’s funny!

And I don’t mean funny – ha! ha! – I mean funny – strange!

Ever since I revealed the , er, “relationship” between Homer & Sylvie Fortin I’ve seen less and less of him. In fact he’s been so quiet of late I thought he’d left the internet scene altogether.

And today you’re about to discover the reason why…

Homer has started a new career. Now I don’t know whether Michel Fortin meant to let the cat out of the bag but his blog post today did just that!

Clearly Sylvie decided to rekindle something with Homer and offered him a part in her epic film that has just been released. You can watch the full length feature below.

Homer of course would jump at the chance to become a celebrity and of course would be taken in by the business opportunity presented as the plot of this outstanding movie.

Sylvie, if you are planning a sequel be warned that Homer will undoubtedly be immersed in a new direction – he has clearly seen that making money by using a ghost writer is the way to go!

Now it’s obvious she couldn’t use his real name and how she persuaded Marge to co-operate I haven’t yet found out but anyone who knows Homer will immediately recognise him in this video.

With just under 19,000 people already registered it looks like Michael Cheney is about to have a massive pay day!

Now, as The Anti Hype, I’m still in two minds about this launch. As you know I’m not keen on the over-hype associated with many launches. With The Golden Thread I do feel that this is a great product and will be very well received by those looking for a set-up and go solution, but I really dislike the volume of emails I’m receiving AND the offers of bonuses for using certain links – personally I’d rather have a discount!

The challenge is that although the product promises Cash Cannons for some products that are included in the package, by its very nature this means 500 people using the same system at the same time to sell the same products. Or maybe I’ve just missed something.

Anyway, I’ll let you into a little secret – I’ve been using Pre Sale Videos for about a year and to all intents and purposes these are the equivalent of cash cannons. No you don’t get the full training, personalised templates and resell rights products that are available in The Golden Thread. But, what you do get is professional pre recorded videos that promote a variety of great affiliate products.

All you do is sign up, get your links and promote or embed the code on a page of your own. The following is an example and in keeping with todays theme of video sales pages this video is for a brilliant package of products that makes adding any video to any web page a piece of cake. I bought the product myself yesterday and I’m amazed at how easy it is to use.

If you have no products to sell the basic PreSale Videos system may be a perfect fit – basically it’s a video with your affiliate link embedded into the code. I first heard of him last night, so it’s real coincidence I’m going to his manor today.

Ziggy is a Polish immigrant who sweeps roads for a living.

So what’s that got to do with the internet?

Quite simply, Ziggy is now an internet celebrity as a result of his very own style of sweeping. He takes his ipod with him and dances as he sweeps. Without the internet the videos of him dancing would not be seen and he would not have become the tourist attraction he is today.

Clearly, Homer has a thing or two to learn from this guy – how to get internet exposure.

I can just see him doing a twirl or two in his Guru Pajamas. Anything for some exposure. I just hope he remembers to button up properly!

Which reminds me I must check with Marge to see if he is out of his hypnotised trance yet.

On a serious note, this is exactly the type of outrageous publicity that Joe Vitale talks about (see Hypnotic) and although Ziggy doesn’t appear to have an agenda, marketing seems to be about daring to be a little different!

Actually no, Disqus is another of those great sites that uses an unusual spelling of a common word.

I started using the Disqus service today and you need to know because it affects you.

Quite simply – Disqus is brilliant.

Ever wanted more interactivity on your blog? How about talking – yes, not only can your visitors leave text comments with this service, voice comments and even video can be created directly on your blog.

Disqus has taken blog comments to the next level.

Give it a try – you’ll be asked to create an account as you leave a comment – the benefits are huge. Comments you leave on any blog that uses Disqus will have your profile attached and others will vote for the quality of your comments.

Spammers are out in the cold and good commentators will reap the benefits – if you leave great comments do you think others may be tempted to visit your blog? It’s what the whole Social Bookmarking movement is all about.

Am I ready to use a webcam to leave my comments – I’m not sure yet. For now I’ll be using voice only – the problem is I don’t look at grumpy as TheAntiHype all the time and my cover may be blown!

I’ve left a short message below as an example of how it works.

Your links need to be everywhere:

* Comments in blog posts, Squidoo Lenses, Hub Pages etc

* In articles

* On other websites

* In emails you send

* On Social Bookmarking sites

In fact, the more places you can find to leave your links the more traffic your site will receive. It’s a bit like leaving a Business Card everywhere you can.

The challenge is, however, to make your links look enticing enough for someone to click and for the Search Engines to rank because of the relevant content they find at your site.

I’ve made so many mistakes with the html code and bcc code when trying to post comments on Squidoo lenses, blogs and in forums resulting in a pile of junk that leads nowhere. Too late – you can’t edit the blog comment and your chance has gone.

I decided to make my life easier and asked a good friend to create a simple program for me that I could leave open in a tab on my browser and easily create whatever links I need, without thinking about the relevant code.

Too young to remember the 60s? Maybe but I’m sure you will have heard My Generation and Substitute by The Who.

The “leader” of the band was Pete Townsend. I was amazed to hear him say that Roger Daltrey’s singing on the early songs, including My Generation, was lacking. To this day, having heard those early songs hundreds of times, I still get a buzz from them. But, Roger Daltrey was not fully tuned in according to Townsend!

And then came “Tommy”.

A few years later Pete Townsend finished writing his first masterpiece rock opera and upon first hearing it Roger Daltrey asked if he could be “Tommy”, the deaf, dumb and blind kid.

He breathed life into that character. He became that person and lived the child through his voice. The passion and emotion is evident right from the start and no one could question Daltrey’s commitment and embodiment through to the conclusion as they listen to “See Me, Feel Me” from the final track – “We’re Not Gonna Take It”

The true “voice” of The Who had been awakened and the band made that massive breakthrough from the ranks of good bands to mega stars – Townsend was happy at last! (it didn’t stop the fall outs, but that’s a different story!)

So what has that to do with blogging?

Everything!

How many blogs are there on the internet? More than any one of us could ever read in 10 lifetimes!

So how do you stand out from the crowd?

You have to find a voice. You have to be yourself. You have to inject your personality in your words and live your subject.

There is simply no point in churning out boring, article re-hashed stuff. Who cares? Private Label articles are all very well if you want to attract traffic but if you want a following…

We want originality, we want controversy, we want emotion.

Something happened with Tommy, and Roger Daltrey changed from being a good singer into one of the all time great rock vocalists. That something was passion. A true belief in what he was doing that he carries through with his singing to this day.

Take a good look at what you are writing. Does it reflect you? Does it invoke any emotion in your readers? Are you doing it to make some money or because you truly love what you’re writing about?

If it is not really you, will your visitors be back for more? There are a few other blogs they could visit!

Life is about choices. Life today is about lack of time and information overload. If you’re not heard immediately and say something others truly want to hear they’ll find someone else.

“See Me, Feel Me, Touch Me”

Touch your readers emotion, let then see the real you and get a feel for who you really are.

You won’t appeal to everyone but those that like your style will be back for more.

“…meet the new boss, same as the old boss…”

I’ve seen half hearted – “add a comment and you’ll get a trackback” type of explanations but until this week nothing that comes anywhere near close to a proper explanation.

Now I have two. Randy at Marketing Beginners answered my request with an answer at the forum he runs. You can join for free and it is highly recommended. Randy is always available and is a great help with any technical issues. Then I was looking through some videos and found Jack Humphrey at the Friday Traffic Report had a video that is just brilliant.
